These are so fast and easy, and people love them. They don’t last quite as long as some of the others, so I am generous with them in my trays. This is one of my mom’s recipes.
Toffee Bars
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla
put egg yolk, vanilla, sugar and butter into large bowl and cream well. Add flour slowly and blend thoroughly. Spread 1/8″ thick on greased cookie sheet (jelly roll pan). Bake at 300 for 20 minutes. When the cookie comes out of the oven, sprinkle with 1 package of chocolate chips. Let them melt (or put them back in the oven for a second to melt them) and spread. Sprinkle with chopped pecans and let cool before cutting. These cut better if the chocolate is not too hard when you cut them.
